1. Wash Face Twice A Day
Washing your face often and rubbing it harshly can cause oiliness on skin. Study shows that when we rub our face for removing excess oil, it produces even more for balancing. Using oil-free face wash, maximum twice a day, is ample for your skin.
2. Oiling Your Hair
Avoid putting oil in your hair more than once a week if you have oily skin. Greasiness on the face can also be due to excessive use of hair oil and an oily scalp. Use a non-sticky light oil to suit your hair & skin.
3. Scrub And Face Pack
Your skin sebum mixes with the dead cells and gets stuck in pores which can further cause acne and stickiness on the face. Be regular with using a scrub and a pack on your face. Following this routine twice a week can give wonderful results in a month. Regular scrubbing can help remove dead cells which are one of the major causes of oily skin. Be careful while choosing products according to your skin type that works best for your needs.
Use a sugar scrub for sensitive oily skin. Mix one teaspoon of sugar with honey or curd & scrub for 5 minutes.
A coffee scrub is great for acne-prone oily skin. It removes dead cells and makes your skin shine bright. Take a teaspoon of melted coconut oil/a teaspoon of curd, a teaspoon of instant fresh ground coffee (remember not to leave coffee in this mixture for a long duration as it will dissolve) and a teaspoon of sugar and massage for 5 minutes.
Tomato is great for the skin. It is rich in vitamin C and A and is acidic that helps in getting rid of excess oil. Similarly, Gram Flour helps in controlling acne and reduces the oiliness of skin. Curd has anti-inflammatory properties that also help in reducing acne. A combination of these 3 ingredients is best for reducing greasiness on skin. Mix 1 teaspoon of gram flour, 1 teaspoon of tomato juice, and 1/2 a teaspoon of curd. Leave it on the face for 10 to 15 minutes for the best results.
4. Moisturize Carefully
Moisturizing is the most important step in the whole process. While it helps to prevent and treat dry skin, it is very important to carefully use a moisturizer with oily skin. Moisturizer helps in providing water to the skin and prevents it from dehydration. While oily skin also needs to be hydrated from time to time, it's excess can lead to the generation of more oil on the face. A gel-based/oil-free moisturizer is the best for oily skin.
5. Water Detox
Mix a few drops of lemon, 1/4 cucumber, 2 to 3 mint leaves, and a glass of water. Warm and leave it for a while before drinking it every morning. Lemon is high in vitamin C and cucumber contains antioxidants and vitamin E that can help you have better and healthier skin.
Follow these measures regularly and I hope these will help you in controlling oiliness on skin.
For some of you, it is possible that any remedy or product may cause allergy or sensitivity. Make sure to check the ingredients before buying and apply products to suit your skin.
