Easy 5 Minute Makeup Routine Every Morning
How I use minimal products for a natural look every day
It's been 4 months now since I left my job (which I always thought was perfect for me) and has been mostly at home either enjoying a bowl of nachos with Netflix or consuming content or writing (lately). Creating content has been difficult. I often feel demotivated and low on energy. And during this time, a bit of makeup and a comfortable yet fancy outfit just bolster my energy. And I've been amused how this has helped me with writing during the lockdown.
Although I was never very keen on putting makeup every day, of late I've been enjoying it and look forward to pampering myself every morning. I have oily skin which is mostly tanned as travel was something which I could never avoid. Be it going to work or exploring places to capture them in my lens, is what I always look forward to. So, I like to keep my makeup basic and natural that I can easily carry especially during summers. With the products that I've been using, it takes me about 5 minutes to get ready and doesn't require any touchups throughout the day.
I've been swapping and testing beauty products over a year and it's been a few months now that I have finally discovered a consistent routine. So I wanted to share some of these products with you that have become a regular part of my life.
Matte Foundation For A Natural Look
I believe that imperfection is the new perfection and so, I use only a foundation on my face. Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Liquid Makeup is one of the best lightweight foundations I've used so far. With a small amount, it gives full matte coverage without making the face look cakey and you don't even need a blender for applying it. It blends easily using fingers. It's been over a year now and I am largely happy with the results. I would suggest whatever foundation you use, keep your base light, and skip a concealer for a natural look.
A Tinted Lip Balm For Cheeks
I don't remember how or when I discovered this product, but since then I have been a loyal user. People who know me well, are aware of how much I love this balm. This is a 100% natural product and even on days when I don't put any makeup, I use only this on the go. With some makeup, I prefer using nothing or this at times as a blush. I know you must be wondering how can a lip balm be used as a blush, but believe me this trick has been easy and helpful for me. I recommend you to try it with any tinted lip balm to get natural flawless pink cheeks.
Eyes and Brows
This is one part of the makeup that I feel can either be tiring and time taking or the easiest. As I prefer a subtle look, my eye makeup includes only 2 products on a daily basis - A Mascara and a Liner. I never skip a mascara in my routine. I feel it makes my lashes look plumper and opens up my eye. A while back I came across this Extreme Volume Mascara by Clinique and have been quite happy with it. It is great for giving a natural volume to your lashes without making them messy and sticky. This mascara is smudge-proof and water-resistant to some extent. However, if you are looking for a waterproof Mascara then try Clinique Lash Power Mascara or Roller Lash Curling Mascara by benefit.
Along with it, I've been using Clinique's quick liner in the shade ebony for adding some depth. I recently came across this trick of using a liner and have been following it. Always put a liner after mascara and apply it on the surface between your lashes instead of your eyelids. Avoid applying eyeliner in the inner corner and, apply it mainly along the middle and outer corner. Add a wing to give a more glamorous effect to the eye.

This is another step that I am always careful about. I feel that an eyebrow can change the look of your face and can make small eyes look bigger. The right shape and length can add definition to your face. I have a long face also known as a rectangular one and the ideal brow shape for it is flat and horizontal. While doing my brows, I make sure to fill only the empty places in between to make it look neutral and not too heavy. I've been using Sephora's eyebrow pencil that comes with a small brow comb. I wouldn't say that it is the best product available, but it serves the purpose for me. In case you are looking for one, I would recommend you to try Precisely My Brow Pencil by benefit.
I am very particular when it comes to choosing a lip color. Around a year back I discovered this #lipstick from Clinique. After constantly trying a few lip colors, when my cupid's bow started to look more like a lipstick pallet (lol), I picked up Mocha Pop which is one of the neutral terracotta shade in their collection. This is one color that I believe can look good on anyone. There are times when I use this lipstick as the only makeup product during the day.
And that's it! This has been my easy and natural go-to routine. Let me know in the comments section below if you like this blog and are interested in more such content.
